I have upgraded the Kits Band website and added a new name and new address. The new name is Ambassadors of Empire Online and the new address is www.kitsband.ca. You can also use www.woodwindsbrassandgloryonline.com.

I am developing a TV show on the band called Ambassadors of Empire and I am mapping the episodes out online for all to see. I needed a way to justify the expense of upgrading the site although not expensive but still, $150 per year so this works by combing the two. I also have been thinking of ways of keeping the Kits Band site more relevant as it has been relatively inactive over the past few years, only a few people visiting it so this should work and instill new life into the site and a wider range of viewers.

Everything is still there the trips are at the top and so is the TV Show. Click on whichever. The historical connections are still there as well below under the slide shows. The slide shows combine the alumni site with the TV Show. It works!

I have been looking for a way for a long time to get a movie/TV Show off the ground as most of you well know. One big problem has always been what part of the band story you focus on as it is so big. Obviously you would like to get the entire story told. This approach works.

I have enough material for ten seasons showing six or seven episodes a season so sixty or seventy episodes in all. You will see it is setup by episodes so it is a work in progress. Come back often and see how it develops. There is enough up to give you the overall idea. I am writing it for PBS and hopefully Masterpiece Theatre so we will see. How did this come about?

Well, a producer I know told me Hollywood isn’t doing action flicks anymore. They are looking for period dramas with good writing along the lines of Downton Abbey. I checked Downton Abbey out and realized there are similarities. The big difference is it is fictional and of course we have characters that have had great lives which is a plus in my mind. The great thing about DA is its writing which is very good and very believable so that is the goal to have script writers write it at that level.

I was thinking just this morning that a way of funding it could be by episode. If someone or a group wanted to finance an episode in memory of someone or their own days in the band they could. Everyone will be included in an episode either in a small way or bigger depending on how much I have written about them over thirty years. When I find out the cost of an episode I will let everyone know, of course costs may differ depending on the episode.

Heck, if I don’t get a TV Show we will have a mighty fine website to remember us all.
