Arthur is reluctant to take another band to Europe because of what happened on his last trip. He feels responsible for going out too far when he promised himself he wouldn’t but he is having trouble getting boys for his band without one of his big trips looming. The other band directors think he has lost his nerve but his boys still believe in him and rally around him. He is 76 now though and something else is beginning to worry him more than going out too far, the grim reaper.
Keith Christie joins the band he will one day become Canada’s ambassador to Mexico and then ambassador to Columbia. Malcolm Brodie joins he will become the Mayor of Richmond, Barry Leinbach will become Captain Barry of the Kitsilano Showboat, Wayne Petty will become a high school band director and one of Canada’s best trumpet players of the day and Chris Nelsen will become a writer and write six books on Arthur and his bands as well as write and produce this TV show. Jim Pattison Jr. is there as well he will run the entertainment arm of his dad’s empire Ripley’s one day in Florida.
Mr. D says to Wally, go into that pub and get me an orange soda. George suffers a migraine and falls asleep missing a concert. John meets Kay. Chris and Keith lie awake listening to the pirate radio station Caroline. The boys meet the Baillie sisters Maggie and Janet. Richard buys a 12 string guitar.
